Virendra Mhaiskar is the owner of IRB infrastructure developers ltd which is an indian highway construction company headquartered in Mumbai. IRB Infrastructure executed the country's first build-operate-transfer (BOT) road project and is one of the largest operators of such ventures. Virendra Mhaiskar ranked 96th position among India's Richest (2012) and 937th position among Billionaires (2010) according to Forbes Lists.
IRB Infrastructure have successfully achieved the Financial Closure in FY 2009-10 for our newly awarded projects viz Pathankot Amritsar BOT Project, Jaipur Deoli Project , Talegaon Amravati BOT Project and Panji Goa BOT Project. We have tied up total debt of Rs. 2599.00 crores for the above projects with the Consortium of Banks. IDFC Ltd is the Lead Institution whereas Canara Bank, Bank of Baroda and Union Bank of India are the other member Banks.
IRB has emerged as the Preferred Bidder for the project of “Six laning of Ahmedabad to Vadodara section of NH-8 from km. 6.400 to km. 108.700 (Length 102.300 km) and improvement of existing Ahmedabad Vadodara Expressway from km. 0.000 to km 93.302 in the State of Gujarat (Length 93.302 km.) under Phase V on Design Build Finance Operate Transfer (DBFOT) Toll basis (“the Project”)”.

IRB wins the CNBC TV 18 Essar Steel Infrastructure Excellence Award for second time.Hon’ble Shri Kamal Nath, Minister of Road Transport and Highways present the award to Shri. Virendra D. Mhaiskar, Chairman & Managing Director of the Company and IRB Group .The award is in recognition of the high quality work implemented on the Bharuch to Surat section of NH- 8 under Highways and Bridges Category.
Early life and Career
Virendra Mhaiskar is a civil engineer from University of Bombay and he joined family's road building business in 1990 at the age of 19. He took over in 1998, expanded the business and created IRB Infrastructure which builds and maintains roads and highways. Company, which went public in 2008, is a leading toll road operator in western India where it operates an expressway connecting Mumbai to Pune. Recently diversified into real estate and has been selected to build an airport in Maharashtra, his home state.Awards and Achievements
